Huger Games Premier Photos

Okay, it wasn't technically the premier show-- my book club is a group of (mostly) moms, and making a midnight showing is not really possible or desirable for us these days.

So, we got together, got dressed up, and went on Friday night.

Most people went as Capitolers, with a couple of Hob folks thrown in on the left side for good measure.

I think we assumed EVERYONE would be dressed up... uh... they weren't. At all. Not by a long shot.

In some cases, I thought our crew's outfits were better than those in the film. Just look at those eyelashes!

It was so fun.

I ask you, has there ever been a more serious discussion about a wig and a monacle?

A good day at the Hob.

I went as Katniss, bow in hand.

After the movie we stood outside the theater and ooo'ed and aaah'ed over things we liked and discussed things we didn't like. It was like a mini-book club meeting!

  2. How fun! I went with my husband, who was able to follow the story pretty well (despite not reading the books) except for one part. He didn't get why eating the berries was such an act of defiance--he wondered why the authorities stopped it.

  3. Oooh, Angelica that is SO interesting, because we were talking about and wondering how a non-reader would have watched it. So much of the book is her internal dialogue. Very cool- thanks for sharing!

  7. Just got home from seeing Hunger Games! My muscles (what few there are) are sore from being clenched for almost 2 hours!

You must have had a great time!

  8. Rebecca- I know! I didn't even realize such things were manufactured! I think my friends could easily out-Capitol the Capitol.

It was a blast Sophia! Getting ready was tons of fun and the movie was satisfying.

Susan-- it was gripping, wasn't it. I thought it was really well done. Few movies can stand up to the book (I think Holes is one of the few that does it perfectly), but I think this was a pretty good shot.

  10. Oh wow! Those costumes are really awesome :D I wore my mockingjay pin and a District 12 t-shirt and I felt a little fangirly in even that (nobody else was really in anything HG-related). Glad you ladies had a blast :)

  12. Aww, Meredith- I agree. They are so much fun and really hilarious.

Jaime-- Thanks! We had fun! Where did you get a mockingjay pin??? Our book club had many discussions about how to make one, but we did not try.

Katy- then you'll just have to visit. Our kids need to hang out for a play date, anyway!

  15. Oh those pictures are AWESOME! I took my daughter and sixteen of her friends (they're in 7th grade) and a few parents to the midnight premiere. It was amazing. And most of us girls (me included) sported Team Peeta shirts. SO MUCH FUN!!!

  17. Oh my gosh--you guys are hilarious! What a great and fun idea. Love you as Katniss! The others look super too. :) I just saw the movie today, and loved it!! It was tense though--I was squeezing my hubby's hand and kept having to consciously UNCLENCH it. Haha.

  18. Funny Allison-- we did have an intense team peeta vs team gale discussion after. I was team peeta, but that actor playing gale may force me to switch!

Thanks Carrie-- it was a lot of fun.

Thanks Carol, it was fun. I was tense, too, in the movie. Even knowing what came next, I was nervous.

  20. Thanks Tracey-- it was so fun. For us. :0) And I don't think too many people thought we were weird. But who cares?
