Hiatus status check

In the midst of some natural disasters, I'm managing to get the kids ready for school, get myself ready for teaching, and finish up some research articles.

Somehow I've been lucky to squeeze in writing and reading, too.

The only downside: previewing films for my Food and Sustainability course. It will be a rockin' class, but the movies about slaughterhouses are a real downer. Trust me on this one.

I'll be back on a regular basis soon!

Thought I'd share what's inspiring me right now.

  1. Stay safe if you're in the way of the storm, and good luck with the downer cow films! :-)

  2. Eww! A red velvet ant-err-waspy thing! We have those around here.

Hope the hurricane passes you by.

  3. Even tho I spent my formative years on a farm, I never saw that 'downer' stuff - don't know if I could handle it - you're a strong gal!

Hope the first day of school goes well...such a hectic/fun/crazy time *sighs*

  5. Great photos, Kat! Hope you're prepared for Irene. I went to the grocery store with 50 gazillion other people this evening. What craziness.

  7. Thanks EJ- I'm trying to find a cow film that isn't too over-the-top...

Oh, Carolyn-- awesome! Send me one, please! (But don't get stung)

Kittie- not family farms, more the big mega-factory farms where life becomes a commodity. I LOVE and RESPECT family farmers and the hard work they do/hard choices they make to put food on my table (including meat).

    Thanks Connie!

Thanks Joanne- we made it through without many problems, thank goodness

YAY- glad you like it elena!!!

  9. LOVE that last pic!

Irene kept us out of school today. I'm hoping we get back to somewhat normal tomorrow. Routine motivates me to stay on top of things. :)

Glad you're getting some writing done!
